Water sealers typically form a barrier or penetrate into the surface to repel water. Water sealing helps extend the lifespan of masonry by reducing water-related damage. 

Masonry cleaning is the process of removing dirt, stains, biological growth (like moss or algae), efflorescence, paint, or other contaminants from masonry surfaces—such as brick, stone, concrete, or mortar—without damaging the material. It’s a key part of both new construction cleanup and historic restoration because dirty or stained masonry can make a building look neglected, & in some cases, the buildup can even cause deterioration.

Salt guarding in masonry is the process of protecting masonry surfaces from salt damage, which is often caused by de-icing salts (like sodium chloride, calcium chloride, etc.) or salt-laden environments (such as coastal areas). It’s often used as an alternative to painting because unlike paint, stain penetrates into the brick instead of forming a layer on top—so the brick stays breathable & more natural-looking.
